How to Write a Cover Letter When You Have Nothing "Impressive" to Say

September 22, 2026 · 1 min de lecture

Not every candidate has a headline achievement — a cover letter can still work without one.

Many job seekers assume a cover letter needs a dramatic accomplishment to be effective. It doesn't — consistency and genuine interest go a long way.

Lead with specific interest, not a big claim

Naming something concrete about the role or company that appeals to you reads better than an inflated claim about your own greatness.

Use small, real details

"I stayed late three times last month to help a coworker meet a deadline" is more convincing than "I'm a dedicated team player" — specificity beats grandeur.

Let reliability be the story

Steady attendance, meeting deadlines, and being easy to work with are legitimate selling points, even if they don't sound flashy on paper.
