How to Get Your Resume Reviewed Before You Apply
September 1, 2026 · 1 min de lecture
A second set of eyes catches things you can no longer see in your own document.
After staring at your resume for hours, it's hard to spot your own blind spots. Getting outside feedback — from the right sources — makes a real difference.
Ask someone in your target field, not just anyone
A friend in an unrelated industry may catch typos but miss whether your experience is framed the way employers in your field expect.
Use career services if you have access
- College or university alumni career centres, even years after graduating
- Public employment support services
- Some libraries and community organizations offer free reviews
Ask specific questions
"Does this read like I'm qualified for a coordinator role?" gets better feedback than "does this look okay?"
Give it a rest before your final read
Step away for a day, then reread it fresh — you'll catch things you missed while writing.
