Setting Up an Ergonomic Home Workspace Without Spending a Lot
September 28, 2026 · 1 min de lecture
Physical strain from a poor setup adds up over time — a few low-cost changes go a long way.
Long-term discomfort from a poorly set up desk often develops gradually, which makes it easy to ignore until it becomes a real problem.
Free or nearly free fixes
Raise your laptop to eye level using a stack of books, keep your feet flat on the floor (or on a stack of books if your chair is too high), and position your screen roughly an arm's length away.
Worthwhile low-cost purchases
A separate keyboard and mouse (so your laptop can sit higher without forcing you to type at an awkward angle) and a lumbar cushion are inexpensive and address the most common complaints.
Build in movement
No setup fully offsets sitting still all day — standing or stretching briefly every hour matters as much as the equipment itself.
